PSA presents H2Origin fuel cell prototype
PSA Peugeot-Citroen has built a new fuel cell prototype: the H2Origin.
This research vehicle, created in partnership with energy firm Intelligent Energy, is based on the Peugeot Partner Origin small van. It features a 10kWe fuel cell which converts energy from hydrogen into electrical energy. The only by-product is water, making this zero-emissions van ideal for urban deliveries.
The H2Origin has a range of up to 300km between recharges of its battery or hydrogen fill-ups, and it can be started at temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Centigrade. Its fuel cell is compact enough to fit under the bonnet, like a conventional engine, ensuring that load-space is not affected; it can store compressed hydrogen in an exchangeable rack system, making refuelling easier.
