Renault To Build Cars in South Africa as Part of Emerging-Markets Push
JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — Renault has announced that it will start producing cars here in 2009 as part of a growing focus on the world''s emerging markets. The French automaker will build a version of the low-cost Logan, the Sandero hatchback. Plans include export to other parts of Africa.
Renault gave few details, but did say the car will be priced to compete against such small economy cars as the Tata Indica, Fiat Palio and Chevrolet Aveo but will be bigger than they are.
