Taking a slightly different tack than many Western auto companies, Renault plans to introduce increasing numbers of cars as completely built imports rather than find a way to produce them inside the giant nation with an increasing appetite for cars. To underline the new plan, Renault unveiled a sporty version of its Megane, the CC Coupe, in Shanghai just ahead of the Shanghai Grand Prix, priced at the equivalent of $51,000. It will also start selling its latest generation of Laguna in China in summer next year to compete with luxury cars like the Audi A4 and the BMW 3 Series here. |
