But profits fell short of the year-earlier level, when they were pumped up by a one-time pension fund boost. For the fiscal year ended March 31, operating profits fell 2.0 percent to 851.88 billion yen, or $7.22 billion at current exchange rates. Net income fell 0.8 percent to $5.02 billion. Revenues rose 11.9 percent to a record $93.92 billion as unit sales grew 7.7 percent to a record 3,652,000. The sales increase came entirely in overseas markets, led by North America. Sales fell in Japan. |
