Porsche Names Grandson of Founder as New Chairman
Porsche AG has named Wolfgang Porsche, a grandson of founder Ferdinand Porsche, as its new chairman of the supervisory board, effective on Friday, January 26. At the same time, the German company posted a net profit of $1.4 billion for the fiscal first half which ends January 31, versus $219 million for the same period a year earlier.
Most of that gain is due to an increase of more than $1.3 billion in the value of its 27.4 percent stake in Volkswagen AG. Porsche is optimistic about full-year sales, predicting that they will match last year's as sales double in China and growth increases in Russia and Eastern Europe.
