China's Great Wall starts work on $257 million plant
China's Great Wall Motor Co. Ltd. is building a $257 million (2 billion yuan) engine plant partly to help expand its vehicle sales overseas, especially in developed markets, a senior executive said today.
The company recently kicked off the engine project, capable of making 400,000 gasoline and diesel-fueled engines per year, to boost its vehicle output, said the executive, who asked not to be identified. Production would start in the first half of 2008.
